Test PlatesThe two test plates below show the difference between conventional zinc dust products and the new zinc flake products used in the Galv Tech range.
Both plates were prepared in the same basic manner.
- Abrasive Disc (80 grit)
- Degrease
- Spray coating to appro 40 microns thickness. (leace 1 band across the top uncoated to determine incursion into coating)
- Left to dry (inside) for 48 hours min.
These were then exposed to wet weather factors for two months (winter).

Results
Plate A - Galv Tech ALU ZINC
Small amounts of rust stain on edges due to "bleeding" from uncoated edges and underside. Small number of "pin-hole" rust spots. Slight incursion of rust into top edge of coating.
Plate B - Conventional Alu Zinc
Complete removal of "coating" extending to approx 50% of the surface. In the remaining area there are numerous penetrations of the coating by rust.
